Termite-Damaged Structure Repair for a Residential Property

Project Overview

This project involved structural repair work to a residential property where timber members had been damaged by termite activity. ECOCAM Construction was engaged to assess the affected area, remove damaged components where required, and restore structural support in a safe and practical way.

The Issue

The property had visible signs of termite damage affecting part of the wall frame and roof truss area. Several timber members were weakened or hollowed out, reducing the structural capacity of the affected section.

This caused part of the ceiling to detach and sag. Before repair work could begin, temporary support and careful dismantling were required to make the area safe and accessible.

Result

The damaged timber framing and affected structural areas were carefully replaced or reinforced to restore strength and stability. The ceiling was rebuilt with new plasterboard, followed by fresh paintwork and the installation of new lighting.

The repaired area is now structurally sound, safer to use, and visually refreshed — giving the space a clean, renewed finish while improving its long-term usability.

 Insight

Termite damage can often be hidden behind plasterboard, ceilings, wall linings or underneath the floor. Timber may look acceptable from the outside but can be significantly weakened internally.

Structural timber elements such as wall frames, roof trusses, floor trusses, bearers and joists all require careful assessment when termite damage is found. Cosmetic repairs alone are not enough if the load-bearing structure has been weakened.

If active termites are suspected, pest treatment should be completed by a licensed pest control professional before structural repair work is carried out.
